Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express concern over the mentality of some players following the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The north London outfit were in dismal form against their west London rivals, managing to get just one of their five shots on target throughout the game while seeing a number of individual errors cost them dearly.

Firstly, Serge Aurier headed the ball out for a corner in the first-half, before failing to close Willian down quick enough from the resulting set-piece – the Brazilian then breezed past the former PSG right-back and curled the ball into the bottom right corner.

Then, a truly bizarre moment of madness from Paulo Gazzaniga saw Willian double Chelsea’s lead from the penalty spot.

Inexplicably, the former Southampton glovesman fly-kicked Marcos Alonso when he easily could’ve grabbed the ball with his hands, in what was a brainless moment that ultimately made it too hard for Spurs to get back into the game.

To make matters worse, Heung-min Son then mindlessly raked his studs up into Antonio Rudiger’s stomach, which saw the South Korean handed a straight red card – individual moments of madness seriously cost Jose Mourinho’s side against the Blues.

Despite it being easy to point the finger at any of these three players, or Mourinho too, these Spurs supporters have looked deeper into the situation and feel that the mindset of some players simply isn’t good enough.

This supporter said that it doesn’t even matter who is in charge of the squad, and that it will be impossible for Mourinho to achieve any kind of success if the players keep making crazy decisions mid-game.

Meanwhile, these two fans also wanted to highlight the mindset of the players.

One fan with the username ‘Jon Labi’ said that these players are “a bunch of weak minded individuals” and that not even Mourinho can change that.

Additionally, these two fans feel that it’s time for a few players to leave, referring to the fact that little has changed in terms of the thinking despite a new man being at the helm following Mauricio Pochettino’s exit.

Lastly, ‘TweetySpurs’ said that there is now proof that the club’s struggles of late were more down to the players than Pochettino, while again pinpointing mentality as a problem amongst the team.
