Of course, the fact they will be playing on the road once again didn’t really make many fans happy and they were pretty vocal about it, complaining that they never get a home tie in cup draws.

Still, the positive outlook on it, as it seems, is the fact Boro are not a side to be feared as many of them were actually stating this is an easy draw for Jose Mourinho and co.

And considering the fact that their opponent is currently struggling to stay afloat in the Championship – seeing how they are sitting in 20th place in the table with only three wins throughout their whole 2019/20 campaign – it’s easy to see why they would feel so confident ahead of the game.

With Mourinho’s squad still undefeated under their new coach, it seems they believe this tie is there for the taking. But interestingly enough, that wasn’t the only narrative following the draw.

At the very moment, former Spurs players, Jonathan Woodgate and Robbie Keane, are still over in Middlesbrough as manager and assistant manager respectively, and many of the fans were actually excited for this big reunion:

And as fate would have it, facing Woodgate would also mean facing their former Cup hero. Even though he is currently managing the team they’ll soon be facing, the now 39-year-old gaffer is the one who scored the winner in 2008 EFL Cup final, giving Spurs the last title they’ll win to this very day.

But nothing is set in stone just yet and this big reunion will only happen if Woodgate remains at the helm for long enough to meet his old team. New reports from The Sun are suggesting he’s hanging on a thread and his sacking, given the results we’ve already touched upon, would not really be that surprising.

Still, the fans were entertained by this prospect nonetheless.

Elsewhere, many Spurs fans were bemused by new footage of Jose Mourinho with one player that is bound to become one of his favourites at the club…
