Reyna played 10 minutes vs. FrankfurtFuture remains uncertainDortmund wins Bundesliga openerWHAT HAPPENED?
U.S. international Gio Reyna came on as a late substitute, playing 10 minutes against Eintracht Frankfurt in Dortmund's 2-0 win.
The American's late cameo will only add to speculation over his future at the German club. Reyna's playing time has been inconsistent and he has not had a set role since his breakout 2020-21 campaign, where he had four goals and five assists at just 17.

Reyna's potential is unquestioned but his future development and time on the U.S. men's national team are at stake if he is not playing consistently.
After failing to play in Dortmund's German Cup opener and getting limited action in the Bundesliga opener, it is apparent that minutes will be hard to come by in manager Nuri Sahin's squad.
The European transfer window comes to a close on Aug. 30. It will be interesting to see if Reyna draws any interest during that week.

Cole Campbell, seen as Dortmund's next top American prospect, was not in Sahin's squad against Frankfurt on Saturday.
Last season, Campbell scored eight goals as a member of BVB's U19 squad.
WHAT NEXT FOR REYNA AND DORTMUND?
Dortmund will hope to continue their winning ways when they travel to face Werder Bremen on Aug. 31. Will Reyna be on the squad? Time will tell.
